After 45-plus years as a hospital director of social work, case management, counseling, and related divisions, I was thrilled to learn that I had been named a 2017 Barry University Distinguished Alum, where I had earned my master’s degree in social work in 1981. The president of the university declared, “Stephanie has dedicated her professional life to helping those in need. We were pleased to recognize her with a distinguished alumni award for her life of service and her generous heart.” Our community magazine picked up the story and dedicated the issue to me, my award, and our family.
