The beauty and curse of Ithaca has always been its location. For better or worse it will become less “centrally isolated” (at least a little) in October. That’s when Continental Airlines will start four daily non-stop flights from Ithaca to Newark Liberty International Airport.

The flights, each holding thirty-seven passengers, will be a boon especially to international travelers. Newark is the fifth busiest international airport in the country and offers access to virtually anywhere in the world.

The news was announced Tuesday at a Tompkins County Legislature meeting.
