It all started with a trip to Brooklyn. Erin Geld ’07 was considering a post-graduation move there. But not after experiencing the overwhelming hipness of the borough’s hipper-than-hip hipsters. She described them in a Daily Sun column last year as "a big pile of cool" with "over-styled hair, ironic tattoos, and whimsical combinations of thrift-store treasures."

Then Manhattan’s notoriously vicious Gawker.com slammed the column so hard (“Gag. Please DON’T move to BK. We don’t want you either.”) that she skedaddled to San Francisco instead.

Sigh. At least she got another column out of it—now that’s hip. Read it in the Spring ’08 issue of Current, Newsweek’s student-run magazine.
